Rokhshan, a noble from a prestigious count family, has cast aside his family's honor and the duty to bear an heir, completely consumed by his forbidden relationship with his slave, Kael. He believes himself to be mad.
His slave, Kael, is driven by a desperate goal: to receive a declaration of love before the "Nest Wedding" at the culmination of the Black Dragon Festival. Time is running out, and Kael constantly coaxes and intoxicates Rokhshan, pushing him to the brink. Due to Rokhshan's refusal to confess his feelings, Kael gradually loses his sanity and becomes increasingly unhinged, finally snapping: "How much longer do I have to wait? If this goes on, I'm going to completely lose my mind."
Meanwhile, a host of secrets dance within Rokhshan's mansion: the suspicion surrounding his parents' murder, the origin of his own 'lecherous' constitution, and the true identity of the slave who has captured his heart.
